Hello, Gratitude is Calling…

Remember Me?

I answered my phone. The voice was familiar. I just could not put a name with the voice. A friend had reached out to me. We hadn’t spoken in several years. I thought, where did the time go?

We lived several states apart. If you listened to our conversation you would have thought we were next door neighbors. We just pick up right from where we left off.

As I hung up the phone, I noticed that my spirits had been lifted. I was smiling. I was thinking about all the good times we had together. It was later that day that I reminisced how we met.

We lead workshops and conferences together. We participated in conference calls pouring over financial statements, policies and procedures. All necessary duties for being a Director on a Board but not necessarily what you would call “fun”.

Yet, what I remembered most was the connection we had made during these events.

I realize that my yoga practice has followed the same journey. I tend to reflect and smile when I have a break through in a posture. I choose to remember all the years that I have persevered instead of counting the number of times that I have fallen out of a posture or lost my balance.

It is the satisfaction of making a mind body connection that keeps me coming back to my yoga mat day at day. So the next time that I get frustrated with life or my yoga practice, I am going to remember this feeling today.

I will call a friend that I haven’t spoken to in years to raise our collective spirits. I will remember how great it feels to have a break through in class.

I will practice an attitude of gratitude.

Have you had a similar experience? How have you practiced an attitude of gratitude in your life? We’d love hearing from you. Please post your story in our comments section below.
